Autism assessment — gold-standard diagnostic tools
A comprehensive autism diagnostic assessment using ADOS-2 and ADI-R, the internationally recognised gold-standard instruments. Available from age 13 through adulthood, typically across 3–5 hours of assessment.
A pre-assessment screening is required first. Before booking, you complete a set of screening questionnaires (£185) which our psychologist reviews. There is no appointment — you receive the outcome by email. If a full assessment is advised, the £185 is deducted from the assessment fee. Why we assess autism face to face. We believe an in-person assessment is the right way to assess for autism. The ADOS-2 depends on structured, shared activities and on observing subtle features of social communication, eye contact, gesture, sensory responses and how someone uses the space around them — none of which can be reliably judged through a screen. Assessments are held in person across Nottingham city and Nottinghamshire. This service is open to anyone residing in the area, or willing to travel to us to attend the appointment.
Informant history: the ADI-R also relies on a developmental history from someone who knew you as a young child, usually a parent. Where that is not possible we will discuss alternatives at the enquiry stage; an assessment can still proceed, and the report will note the sources of information used.
