Pre-assessment screening — £185
Every diagnostic assessment begins with a pre-assessment screening. This is not an appointment — you complete a set of questionnaires in your own time, and our psychologist reviews them and gives you a written decision on whether a full assessment is appropriate.
How it works
- You select the screening you need and pay the £185 fee through our online booking system.
- Your screening questionnaires arrive automatically once payment is received, matched to the screening you selected.
- You complete the questionnaires in your own time. These cover your background, your current difficulties, and why you believe you or your child may have the condition in question. There is no appointment and nothing to attend.
- Our psychologist reviews everything you have submitted and forms a professional judgement on whether a full diagnostic assessment is clinically appropriate.
- You receive the outcome by email within 5 working days of returning your completed forms, to the address you registered with us:
- Yes — a full assessment is likely to be helpful. You are invited to book, and your £185 is deducted from the assessment fee.
- No — a full assessment is not advised. You receive a professional letter explaining the reasoning and what we would recommend instead.
Why we screen first. A full diagnostic assessment is a significant commitment of time and money. Reviewing your information first means you are not paying for an assessment that was never likely to help — and if you do go ahead, you are not paying twice. Either way, a qualified psychologist has reviewed your case and given you a documented professional opinion.
Please note: the £185 fee is non-refundable. It pays for the psychologist's review of your information and the written opinion you receive — whichever way that opinion goes. It is deducted from the cost of a full assessment only if screening advises proceeding and you go on to book one.

You are struggling with anxiety, low mood, stress or difficult life circumstances and want help rather than a diagnostic label. Therapy may be the better place to start.

Our psychologist-led assessments provide detailed diagnostic profiling from age 7 upwards, including autism, cognitive and learning disability assessment. A note on medication. We do not currently offer ADHD medication prescribing for children or teenagers. Where an adult is diagnosed with ADHD by our psychologist, they can be referred on to a prescriber for assessment of medication suitability and titration — see Adult Mental Health. Our clinicians work closely together and can advise on other services where relevant.

A diagnosis often raises as many questions as it answers. Many parents tell us that once they have a report, they still don't know what to do with it — how to approach the school, what support their child is entitled to, or what an EHCP application actually involves.
You do not have to work that out alone. If your child has been diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental condition or another health condition and you are unsure how to secure the right educational support, we can signpost you to specialist SEN education advisers and legal professionals who work in this area every day.
They can advise on Special Educational Needs (SEN) support in school, Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) applications and reviews, requesting an assessment from your local authority, and what to do if an application is refused or the support offered falls short.
How this works: our role is clinical. We provide the assessment and the report; independent SEN advisers and solicitors handle the educational and legal side. We simply point you towards them so you know where to turn — there is no obligation to use anyone we suggest. Just ask at your feedback session, or contact our team at any time.
Being open with you: no money is paid or received for these introductions. We do work alongside some SEN advisers and legal professionals who also refer families to us for assessment, so referrals can flow in both directions. We tell you this simply so you have the full picture — it never affects our clinical opinion, and you are free to use any adviser you choose.
