Personality disorders — understood, not labelled
Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) — also known as Borderline Personality Disorder — and other personality disorders are often misunderstood, misdiagnosed and under-supported. Our psychiatrists provide careful diagnostic assessment and integrated care that focuses on what actually helps.
Conditions we cover
- EUPD / Borderline Personality Disorder — emotional intensity, unstable relationships, identity difficulties
- Avoidant Personality Disorder — chronic social inhibition and fear of rejection
- Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder — rigidity and perfectionism (distinct from OCD)
- Dependent Personality Disorder — pervasive need to be cared for
- Schizoid & Schizotypal — detachment and unusual perceptions
- Other Specified Personality Difficulties — traits that cause significant distress
What people often describe
- Intense, rapidly shifting emotions
- Difficulty maintaining stable relationships
- Recurring feelings of emptiness
- Fear of abandonment or being alone
- Impulsive or self-destructive behaviour
- Unstable sense of self or identity
- Patterns repeating across years that other treatments haven't shifted
Specialist, structured care
Careful Diagnosis
Personality disorders are often misdiagnosed as depression, bipolar or anxiety. We take the time to get it right.
Non-Judgemental
You deserve a clinician who works with you, not someone who applies the label and leaves.
Therapy Integration
Coordinated referral to evidence-based therapy approaches such as DBT, mentalisation-based therapy and schema therapy.
Medication Where Needed
While there's no medication that treats EUPD itself, medication can help co-occurring depression, anxiety or mood instability.
Personality disorder diagnoses can feel heavy. We use them only where they're clinically helpful — to guide effective treatment, not to define you. Recovery and meaningful change are possible.
We are not an emergency service. If you have acute concerns, become unwell, or your symptoms worsen, please call NHS 111 or 999 as clinically indicated. We cannot monitor your health between appointments and cannot respond to urgent matters. If you are in mental health crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, call 999, go to your nearest A&E, or contact the Samaritans free on 116 123.
